Last night we kicked off the Good Eye, Bad Eye multimedia package with our first webinar—an hourlong conversation between me and Janisse Ray, author of the bestselling Ecology of a Cracker Childhood. It was so much fun!
We talked about writing, the genre of memoir, family secrets, trauma, disability, and Janisse’s stellar new book on writing, Craft & Current: A Manual for Magical Writing.
Big thanks to those of you who joined us. There were some great comments and questions—so many, in fact, it was hard to end the session in 60 minutes.
If you want to see it again, or if you couldn’t join us last night, you can watch the recording here. If you’re asked for a passcode, copy and paste this: C5gEL!D?
Coming up next: Don’t forget to mark your calendar for Tuesday, July 9 at 7 pm EDT. That will be an open Q&A session with me. The floor is open for whatever’s on your mind:
writing
publishing
Substacking
living
breathing
my recipe for a savory summer pasta salad
Also coming up: Chapter 4 of Good Eye, Bad Eye will drop into your inbox this coming Saturday morning … IF you have upgraded your subscription from “free” to the “paid” level. If you still need to do that, click on the brown Upgrade to Paid button in the upper right corner of your screen. That will take you to a page where you can select your payment level: $5/month or $50/yearly. All $50 subscribers will receive an autographed paperback copy of Good Eye, Bad Eye in October, after the online serialization ends.
And a reminder: You can always go back and read previous chapters you missed at the homepage of the book.
Thanks so much for being here, my friends! Your support of Good Eye, Bad Eye means the world to me. I hope you’re enjoying the book so far.
Oops! After I 'restacked' your post with an added comment I realized it included access codes to the webinar. So sorry. It was quickly deleted.
...this is the comment.
Good Eye, Bad Eye is so much more than an excellent, interesting, beautifully crafted memoir. It is a multimedia and book reading adventure bringing readers and writers together in a dynamic literary community. Thank you, Jeanne, for your hard work creating this. It’s a joy to read your story and participate in it with other readers.
Thank you for this informative, rich discussion. Many of the elements I have wondered about regarding memoir both of you touched on, such as our truths, others truths, and how telling our memoir effects those in our lives who are living and have passed on. Truth is certainly a grey area.
Thank you, thank you, Jeanne and Janisse❤️
