Hi friends,
It’s kinda hard to believe, but we’re now well into the serialization of Good Eye, Bad Eye:
Week 6 of 18 weeks completed
Starting Month 2 of four months total (June, July, August, September)
A message to my paid subscribers:
Hey, dear folks! I hope the weekly chapter drop makes it convenient and easy to stay caught up. Don’t forget: You can always go back to the homepage and read any chapters you’ve missed … and there’s also a link at the top of each chapter that takes you immediately to the previous chapter.
So far, the story has taken us from my injury at age 2 to my second marriage at age 37. Upcoming chapters won’t be so chronological. We’re moving into the bulk of the book, which is more thematic in arrangement—like a collection of essays on different topics. You’ll see what I mean starting next Saturday, in Chapter 7.
I also want to say: You all are rockstars! You’re taking part in a grand literary adventure that I believe might be the future of publishing. You’re the pioneers of online serialization—a way to read a book that is (hopefully) richer, more collegial, and ultimately more fun.
I appreciate each and every one of y’all and hope you’ll let me know if anything isn’t working for you or you have suggestions to make. With this method of reading a book, you have direct access to the author. I’m here and I’d love to hear from you!
And speaking of direct access, don’t forget this week’s extra: A live Q&A session with me this coming Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 7 pm EDT. I’ll also share a reading of some new material that’s not in the book. The Zoom link is at the bottom of Chapter 6 and also will be resent to you in a reminder e-mail on Tuesday. I know some of you can’t join us live because you’re in another time zone or you have a previous commitment. Never fear; I’ll record the session and make it available within a day or two. Also, if you’d like to submit a question ahead of time, send it to me directly at malmgrenjeanne@gmail.com.
A message to my free subscribers:
A number of you are still at the free subscription level and that’s mystifying me. Hey y’all … you’re missing out! I’ve designed a full package of goodies for you at the paid level (either $5/monthly or $50/supporter) and two of those extras are coming up SOON:
Author reading and Q&A this coming Tuesday July 9, 2024 at 7 pm EDT
The world premiere of The Solace of Nature, an original short film on nature therapy, which we filmed on my woodland trail (I cannot wait to share this with you!)
Over the next three months there will be lots more to come for paid subscribers:
Another original short film, that one on Buddhism
More live webinars, including ones with a guided meditation led by a Buddhist monk and a demonstration of “unwinding” therapy by a trauma therapist
Chapters 7 through 18, culminating in a discovery during the last chapter of the book that brings it all together
So … if I’ve convinced you that you don’t want to miss out on this package chock full of goodies, all you have to do is go to the homepage for the book and click the brown “Upgrade to Paid” button in the top right corner of your screen. Hope you’ll decide to join us on this journey!
Serialization of a great, beautifully written memoire that's enhanced with ZOOM gatherings (author, guest speakers, and readers) along the way is so much more enriching than just reading a great story in a book that will wind up sharing space shelved along with other (hopefully great) books.
Book writing, and especially publishing is, as I'm hearing about in Janisse Ray's Substack: "The Rhizophere", is a lot of work. It's an enterprise. How will effort vs return compare between your serialization of "Good Eye, Bad Eye" and Kickstarter for "Craft and Current"? I wonder because both have great appeal to me as a reader (I'm a customer for both books). Wishing, here, for good traction ('sales') for either or both publishing methods (serialization/Kickstarter) to succeed. I truly like the way the full subscription Substack; Good Eye, Bad Eye is going so far. I wouldn't want anything less for the next book.
None of the self publishing efforts would be worth a hoot in h**l if you weren't the accomplished, wonderful writer that you are. I look forward to every Friday and a Zoom session every month. I plan ahead making time for both. That's part of the magic created by your efforts.
Anyone can see that you have sunk heart and soul into this excellent work. I dearly want it to succeed. And will look forward to a sequel. Saying thank you is ok. But thank you with an added full Substack subscription means please don't stop.
Thank you. Please don't stop.
Oh my, so many extra goodies and your book is fascinating! Jeanne, how can I change from my $5/month for 4 months to the full $50 subscription?
