Serialization of a great, beautifully written memoire that's enhanced with ZOOM gatherings (author, guest speakers, and readers) along the way is so much more enriching than just reading a great story in a book that will wind up sharing space shelved along with other (hopefully great) books.

Book writing, and especially publishing is, as I'm hearing about in Janisse Ray's Substack: "The Rhizophere", is a lot of work. It's an enterprise. How will effort vs return compare between your serialization of "Good Eye, Bad Eye" and Kickstarter for "Craft and Current"? I wonder because both have great appeal to me as a reader (I'm a customer for both books). Wishing, here, for good traction ('sales') for either or both publishing methods (serialization/Kickstarter) to succeed. I truly like the way the full subscription Substack; Good Eye, Bad Eye is going so far. I wouldn't want anything less for the next book.

None of the self publishing efforts would be worth a hoot in h**l if you weren't the accomplished, wonderful writer that you are. I look forward to every Friday and a Zoom session every month. I plan ahead making time for both. That's part of the magic created by your efforts.

Anyone can see that you have sunk heart and soul into this excellent work. I dearly want it to succeed. And will look forward to a sequel. Saying thank you is ok. But thank you with an added full Substack subscription means please don't stop.

Thank you. Please don't stop.

Mark, your unflagging support means the world to me ... and I imagine Janisse feels the same way. You're an invaluable member of this writing and reading community we're creating here on Substack. Thank you so much for your presence and your words, which I will carry with me all day today ... and tomorrow ... and the next day and the next.

Oh my, so many extra goodies and your book is fascinating! Jeanne, how can I change from my $5/month for 4 months to the full $50 subscription?

Ah, Allison, that is so sweet of you -- and not necessary! You'll get all the full-package goodies with your $5/month paid sub. But of course ... if you feel moved to increase to $50, I won't turn that down (haha!) and would be suffused with gratitude. You can do that by clicking on the "Upgrade to Paid" button. It's not in the e-mailed version of these posts, but if you go to the homepage for the book (you were on it when you typed in your comment), that brown button should be in the upper right corner of your screen. Let me know if you have any problems.... and .... I appreciate you, at any level of support! 💜

It’s going great, Jeanne! You write beautifully, and your story is compelling. I look forward to each chapter. I’m enjoying learning more about your path, especially the echos from when I had the great privilege to work alongside you and the kind and plain spoken Jim back in your newspaper days. Thanks for sharing your journey so generously. ❤️❤️

Amy, I just read your comment to Jim, and he laughed out loud! We miss you. Those were indeed good days for us all, weren't they? (P.S. A whole chapter is coming up about the Times and our stint in Newsfeatures. Stay tuned!)

I’m loving it, Jeanne! And really looking forward to the film extras. Thank you so much for everything you’re doing to make this a memorable experience not just a reading of the memoir. Which would also have been great by itself as it’s beautifully written and compelling! 💙

Thank you thank you, Amanda! My aim is to give you (and everyone) a good read as the main course, but then some tasty side dishes too.

I so enjoy your voice as you read, and I read along. Has NPR approached you to be a reader for them? Really, you are that good. And your story is so close to my own. Each chapter seems like it could have come from my life. I imagine many of your readers feel the same way.

Mary, I'm flattered. Thank you! I've done a little acting in my earlier life, so I guess that turns on when I read. I'll let NPR know you said they should hire me. 😄 And ... I'm glad my life story is resonating with yours. That's sweet!
